Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials, but its production, especially cement, has a high environmental impact due to carbon dioxide emissions. This study investigates the use of industrial by-products, specifically Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) as a partial replacement for cement and Coal Bottom Ash (CBA) as a partial replacement for fine aggregate, in M25 grade concrete. Various concrete mixes with different replacement levels were prepared and tested for compressive strength at 7 and 28 days, as well as for workability and mix consistency.
The results indicate that the inclusion of GGBS and CBA can improve the strength and durability of concrete while promoting sustainable construction practices. Optimal replacement levels provide a balance between strength, workability, and environmental benefits. The findings suggest that GGBS and CBA can be effectively utilized in concrete, reducing the consumption of natural resources and minimizing industrial waste disposal issues.
