Abstract

Shadows arisein images whereverthree-dimensional substancesare exposedby robustdirectional lights. Shadows will knowinglyinfluence the effects of image processing, such as object discoveryand image subdivision. Shadow removal has been an important subject as one kind of introductoryprocessing methods and varies schemeshave emerged.
