Abstract

Plasma gasification is thermal process using plasma which converts organic matterinto a syngas. A torchpowered by an electric arc, is used to ionize gas and catalyzeorganic matter into syngaswith slagremaining as a byproduct. It is used commercially as a form of waste treatmentandtested for the gasification of municipal solid waste, biomass, industrial waste, hazardous waste, and solid hydrocarbons.The double benefits of waste treatment and energy production can be achieved. The process is environmental friendly with very low quantity of NOx, SOx. Thermal plasma process for waste management and power generation is viable and sustainable.
