Abstract

Growing demand of electrical energy leads to the increasingly complex nature of electrical power systems. Protection of transmission lines plays crucial role in improving the reliability of power system as well as to restore the services of power utilities. As transmission lines are frequently subjected to various kinds of faults different protection schemes are evolved for the effective protection of transmission lines. Distance protection is the most widely used protection system in case of high voltage and extra high voltage transmission lines.
